Parents did not take care of their children

/ Vranje, Blic, AVP, Tuesday, October 28^th 2008. / Since October 23^rd two children have been placed in the children department of the Health Center; they are fifteen month old Stefan D. and three month old Ognjen D, brothers who were neglected and left very often by his father alcoholic and his mother psychical patient.

When the neighborhood noticed that the parents of the neglected children had left alone the children and that they cried all day, they informed the Center for Social Work. Little children were taken away firstly to the Shelter of the Center for development of local social protection services, and very soon to the children department.  

- The children are in our department, because the Shelter has not yet personnel educated for taking of little children of this age. The doctor on duty pediatrician, Doctor Goran Arsic has taken them and I gave them now medical care, as to their arrival, they were hygienically much neglected. The little children have been badly nourished, that is why Stefan is anemic. When the Shelter employs an educated person, the children will be taken to the mentioned Shelter and after that to a foster family – said children department’s chief of Vranje hospital, Doctor Lazar Stankovic.
